Phan Thiet fun for Tet


Phan Thiet has announced the cultural and sports events for Lunar New Year 2011. From January 30 until February 8 (the 27th of the 12th lunar month until the 6th of the 1st lunar month), there are numerous music performances, sports activities, folk games and lion dances at most of the province’s 18 wards. 

HCMC displays Tet culture


HCMC is preparing for traditional Tet (Lunar New Year) with music shows, charity activities, art exhibitions and calligraphy markets.

The Youth Cultural House has launched a Tet Festival for city residents, especially for students who cannot return to their hometowns during Lunar New Year festivities.

Ceremonies set for large turn outs


Countless numbers of people are expected to attend two big ceremonies in Nam Dinh and Ha Nam provinces at night of February 16 and early morning of February 17

A seal opening ceremony to welcome the new year will be held in the Tran Temple, Loc Vuong Ward in the northern city of Nam Dinh, the homeland of the Tran Dynasty in the 13-14th centuries. 

Traditional Craft Villages Festival in Hue


The fourth Traditional Craft Villages Festival 2011, themed “Vietnamese kitchen in Hue’s garden”, will be held from April 30 - May 3 to highlight the culinary and beverage culture, and bonsai.

This was announced by the Hue Municipal People’s Committee on February 14. 

Northern provinces map out tourism events


The Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Yen Bai, Lao Cai and Phu Tho provinces on February 15 announced new tourism programs for 2011.

Tours included relics along the Red River from Thuong Temple-Bao Ha Temple in Lao Cai, Dong Cuong Temple in Yen Bai and Au Co Temple in Phu Tho. 

Sea Festival to spotlight Spratly Archipelago


The fifth biennial Sea Festival will be held in the central coastal city of Nha Trang on June 11-15 with the Truong Sa (Spratly) Archipelago as a key topic. 

Deputy Chairman of Khanh Hoa People's Committee Le Xuan Than said the festival would introduce the archipelago in a photo exhibition, a music show and a conference on the Truong Sa District. 

Vietnam joins in world’s largest travel trade show in Germany


International Tourism Bourse (ITB), one of the world’s largest travel trade shows, will be held in Berlin, Germany from March 9-13. During the event, there will be a seminar on protecting tourists, consumers and travel agencies, which will be organised for the first time by the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO). 

Quang Binh promotes cave tourism


The People’s Committee of the central province of Quang Binh will organise a cave festival at Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park in May, 2011.

The event aims at promoting the province’s tourism for many of the outstand caves in the area, attracting domestic and international visitors, as well as calling for investment.
